Exam Certificates
Certificates are important documents and should be kept in a safe place. Even many years after leaving school, it is highly likely that colleges, universities and employers will ask to see them.
Students are therefore strongly advised to remember to collect their examination certificates from school within the time frames detailed below.
Students should note that certificates are NOT the same as exam result slips for students who achieved GCSEs and A-Levels in a particular year.
How long will school keep my certificates?
The school is only required to hold certificates for a period of 12 months from the date of issue. After this time, the school can send the certificates for secure destruction.
How can I collect my examination certificates?
Certificates are available for collection from January for students who achieved GCSEs and A-Levels in the summer of the previous year.
We may also have certificates awaiting collection for students who left a few years before this time.
Certificates are not automatically sent out because they need to be signed for. Students should arrange to collect their certificates.
Please note that schools are only allowed to accept instructions from students, not from their parents/carers in respect of their exam results and certificates.
To collect in person: Beginning of January from the Old Hall.
To nominate someone to collect for you: Please complete this form and return it to the Exams Office. Nominated persons MUST have photo ID when collecting.
To arrange to have your certificates posted to you: Please complete this form and return to the Exams Office requesting this service and confirming the address that the certificate is to be sent to. The cost for this service is £5 payable via Scopay. Certificates are sent by recorded delivery.
What can I do if I have not collected my certificates and the school no longer holds them or if I have lost them?
You will need to contact the relevant exam boards and follow their replacement certificate procedure. This is a costly and lengthy process which you will need to instigate and pay for yourself.
