True Adventure
True Adventure Expeditions are an established part of the Oxted School calendar and take place every two years.
Students in Year 11 and Year 12 travel to developing countries to explore hugely diverse cultures and challenge themselves to take part in a life-changing experience.
Expeditions have included:
- Peru (2022)
- eSwatini and Mozambique (2019)
- Indonesia (2017)
- Costa Rica and Nicaragua (2015)
- Uganda (2013)
- India (2011)
- Borneo (2009)
Expeditions include working on a charity project in the local community, such as building a school or an environmental project. Students also take part in treks; which are designed to challenge them and experience living in the outdoors, carrying their own kit and cooking over fires. Students also get to immerse themselves in cultural experiences.
True Adventure stands apart from other school trips as students take an active part in planning the trip, including booking hotels and transport, budgeting food allowances and selecting the experiences they want to get out of the trip etc.
